Wylie Concrete Pads & Slabs

As families dig into Wylie's new neighborhoods, the pads follow: a shed, a hot tub, a spot for the RV or the boat, an AC unit set off the wall. We size each one to precisely what it has to carry, reinforce it for the weight above, and base it for the shrink-swell clay below so it stays put on a lot that is still settling.

How we build it right

The process behind concrete pads & slabs built to last

Credibility comes from how it's built, not from promises. Here's the order of operations on every concrete pads & slabs job.

01

Base prep on clay

We moisture-condition, compact, and grade the base over Blackland clay so the weight spreads out evenly and the pad neither lifts nor sinks as the soil soaks up water and lets it back out underneath, which a freshly graded lot does in earnest during its first years.

02

Thickness sized to load

Depth follows whatever ends up parked on the pad. A backyard shed footprint and a shop floor under rolling gear are worlds apart as pours.

03

Rebar / mesh

We fit the reinforcement to the job, laying mesh under light pads and moving up to a rebar grid for heavy loads and to span the movement our expansive ground works into every slab.

04

Vapor barrier where needed

Beneath an enclosed or finished pad we lay a vapor barrier so ground dampness stays down below and can't wick up into the slab, a real concern on the lower, lake-side parts of town.

05

Reinforced, jointed & cured

We place a balanced mix, saw the control joints, and run a cure schedule that stops the afternoon heat from drawing the strength back out of the top.

The one you don't have to worry about

01

We answer, and we come back

Most contractors vanish after the deposit. We pick up the phone, show up when we say, and stand behind the work after the truck leaves. The follow-through is the difference.

02

Managed crews, our name on it

A foreman we know runs your job and a vetted crew does the work, managed by Lucky's, one company accountable from the first call to the final walkthrough.

03

Fully insured, paperwork-ready

COI and lien waivers on file before we break ground. The documentation that lets commercial clients pay and gives homeowners peace of mind.

04

Built right, not cheap

Prepped subgrade, reinforced and mixed to spec for the job, and proper curing. We build credibility through the process, not promises. On concrete pads & slabs, that starts with base prep on clay.

FAQ

Wylie concrete pads & slabs, answered

How much does a concrete slab cost in Wylie?

In North Texas a pad gets priced off the load and the dirt beneath it: reinforcement matched to the use, a compacted base over expansive clay, and a cure held against the summer sun. Most pads and slabs open somewhere near $7 to $13 per square foot, sliding with depth and whether the build calls for a vapor barrier. We size and price each one to the weight it will end up holding.

How thick should my slab be?

The load decides. A shed pad demands far less than a garage or a shop floor under trucks and equipment, so we tune the depth and the steel to your actual use and to the expansive clay sitting under the whole thing.

Can a slab hold a hot tub, an RV, or a boat?

Yes. Each of those is heavy and pins its weight on a few points, so we add depth and steel. A hot tub in particular wants a level, dependable base that won't tilt or drop as the clay flexes, which makes the groundwork count every bit as much as the slab. Name the equipment and we shape the pad to fit it.

Do I need a vapor barrier under a slab?

For an enclosed or finished slab, generally yes; the barrier keeps ground dampness from working up through the concrete. The answer tips that way more often on the lower lots near Lake Lavon, where the soil holds extra moisture. We weigh it job by job, off of what the slab is meant to do.

Do I need a permit for a concrete slab?

Some do, depending on the size, the location, and the use, and a young subdivision often layers its own development rules on top of the city's. We call it out when a permit looks likely so it gets handled ahead of the pour, not after.

How long until a new slab is ready to load?

A slab goes on gaining strength well past the point the top looks done. We give you a firm date to set equipment on your specific pour, with the week's heat worked in.
